Fuel Tank Lock Switch -F314-

The Fuel Tank Lock Switch -F314- consists of a reed contact on the fuel filler tube and a fuel filler cap with an embedded magnet.

If the fuel filler cap is not fully bolted on, the reed contact switches and triggers an indication on the display in instrument cluster.

- Check the following items in order with a lighted display:
- Fuel filler cap is installed and threaded in tightly
- Proper fuel filler cap (recognized by: threads are colored gray)







- Switch (arrow) is fully inserted at fuel filler tube
- Electrical malfunction in switch, Checking.
- Faulty wiring connection to instrument cluster (check according to wiring diagram)

Electrical test for Fuel Tank Lock Switch -F314-

Sedan:
- Remove luggage compartment lining.
- Push forward the right backrest of rear seat, if necessary.

Avant:
- Remove 1/3 backrest, left.
- Remove left side trim of luggage compartment and protective pan.

All models:







- Remove cover for locking flange (arrows).







- Disconnect electrical harness connector -2-.







- Connect multimeter between terminals 1 and 2 for resistance measurement.

Fuel filler cap Specified value
bolted on tightly smaller than 1 Ohm
not or incorrectly bolted on Infinite Ohm

If specified values are not obtained:
- Right-rear wheelhousing liner, removing.







- Replace Fuel Tank Lock Switch -F314- (arrow), to do this, unclip switch and electrical wire to fuel filler tube and reclip them afterward.
