Clutch system, bleeding
Special tools, testers and other items required





^ Brake system brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234

Brake fluid specification:

Note:
^ Open bleeder valve before switching on bleeding equipment.
^ Make sure no brake fluid escapes onto transmission when performing subsequent work.
^ Bleed system after working on hydraulic clutch mechanism.
^ Before bleeding the system pull out clutch pedal and fill brake fluid reservoir with brake fluid up to maximum

- Connect brake system brake filler and bleeder unit VAS 5234, but do not switch on at this point.
- Remove noise insulation below transmission, if installed.





- Attach bleeder hose -A- to slave cylinder (arrow) and open bleeder valve.
- Connect bleeder hose to pressure hose of collecting bottle.
- Then switch on bleeding appliance and allow approximately 100 cm3 of brake fluid to drain out.
^ Working pressure 2.5 bar

Note: Make sure bleed hose is correctly installed when bleeding.

- Tighten bleeder valve to 4.5 Nm.
- Press clutch pedal several times following completion of bleeding process.
- Bleed system again if necessary.
