Installation instructions for wheel changing/wheel fitting

WARNING!: Wheel bolts and wheels can only be guaranteed to be properly secured if you carry out the checks and follow the instructions below.

Perform the following steps with the wheel (rim) removed.
- Check that contact surfaces of brake disc/ brake drum and wheel (rim) are free from corrosion and dirt. Remove any oil, grease and corrosion present and reproduce corrosion protection with wax spray D 322 000 A2.
- Check that centering hole in wheel (rim) and centering of wheel hub are free from corrosion and dirt. Remove any oil, grease and corrosion present and reproduce corrosion protection with wax spray D 322 000 A2.
- If rust has fallen between brake disc and wheel hub during removal, remove this and clean contact surfaces.
- Collars of wheels (rims) and wheel bolts must be free from oil, grease, corrosion and dirt.
- Clean dirty wheel bolts, e.g. with a wire brush.
Replace corroded and/or damaged wheel bolts.
- Check that wheel bolts can be screwed in easily by hand. Threads of wheel bolts must not come into contact with hole in brake disc.
- Make sure that hole in brake disc is aligned with thread in hub.

Installing wheels
1. To install a wheel, screw in all wheel bolts uniformly by hand.
2. Tighten wheel bolts, e.g. with a 4-way wheel wrench, to 30 Nm in diagonal sequence.
3. Lower vehicle to floor and tighten all wheel bolts in diagonal sequence to specified tightening torque.
Tightening torque 120 Nm
