Accelerator pedal module with accelerator position sender, removing and installing

Removing
- Remove storage compartment on driver's side.







- Disconnect 6-pin connector -2-.
- Remove bolts -1- and -3-.
- Remove accelerator pedal module.

Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order.

Vehicles with automatic transmission
On vehicles with automatic transmission the kickdown function must be programmed into the control unit if the accelerator position sender or the engine control unit is replaced.

Requirements







- Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAG 1551 connected, vehicle On Board Diagnostic (OBD) mode function "01 - engine electronics" selected.
- No malfunctions stored in DTC memory
- Engine not running; ignition switched on.
- Initiate basic setting, display group 063. Display on VAS 5051:

- Check display in display zones -3- and -4-.

Indicated on display: operate kickdown
- Press accelerator pedal all the way down past the kickdown point and hold in position.

Indicated on display: kickdown ADP runs
- Check the readout in display zones -3- and -4-:

Indicated on display: kickdown ADP OK


NOTE:
- If "Kickdown ERROR"is indicated: check DTC memory.
- "ERROR" is indicated, for example, if the accelerator pedal is not pressed immediately after requested by the tester or if the accelerator pedal is released before the adaptation process is finished. Interrupt function "04 - Basic setting" by pressing the <- button and restart adaptation.


- Terminate operation "04 - Basic setting" by pressing the <- button.
- Select operation "06 - End output".
- Switch off ignition and disconnect the diagnostic connector.
