Transverse link, removing and installing
Note:
^ Due to the inaccessibility of inner bolt -1- when the vehicle is standing on its wheels, the transverse link can only be removed when the subframe has been removed.
^ For wheel alignment following repair work, Refer to Alignment, Description and Operation.
Removing
- Remove subframe.
- Mark position of eccentric bolt -2- to hub carrier/wheel bearing housing.
- Unfasten bolted joints -1- and -2-.
Installing
Pay particular attention to the following on installation:
Note:
^ Replacing bolts and self-locking nuts.
^ Do not confuse right and left-hand parts. "R" or "L" is embossed on back of transverse link.
Installation position of transverse link on subframe
- Bolt transverse link loosely onto subframe.
- Lay a rule or straight bar -1- plane on mounting bracket of stabilizer bar -arrow-.
- Position transverse link so that dimension a = 142 ± 1 mm.
- Tighten to subframe in this position.
- Bolt hub carrier or wheel bearing housing to crossmember. Pay attention to installation position of eccentric bolt -2-.
Tightening torques:
Item 1: 85 Nm plus additional 90° turn
Item 2: initially 20 Nm
- When vehicle is standing on its wheels, loosen bolted joint -2-, bounce vehicle several times and tighten bolted joint to 95 Nm.
- Check wheel alignment.
