Bringing Vehicle Into Initial Position For Alignment
Bringing vehicle into initial position for alignment
Start position only for toe constant
Suspension 1BA, 1BC, 1BE, 1BG, 1BH, 1BP, 1BT, 1BJ
Note: Due to the different alignment platforms, it may be necessary to raise the vehicle at the front axle so that it is possible to insert the VAG1925 spacer. After the vehicle is lowered, it should be bottomed out
^ Put in distance caliber (VAG1925) with the adapters (VAG1925/3 or VAG1925/4), and unscrew both thread spindles until they just come to rest against front bolts (arrow) of carrier.
This must not raise the vehicle!
The vehicle must be standing on its wheels!
The vehicle is now in initial position.
^ In vehicles with a level control system, turn on ignition and waft until vehicle height has settled.
Vehicle with sport suspension 1BE
^ Apply axle lift to front jacking points and raise vehicle.
^ Place VAG1 925/6 adapter on VAG 1925/3 or VAG 1925/4 adapter of spacer.
^ Lower vehicle on adapter.
The vehicle is now in initial position.
Vehicle with 1BB rough terrain suspension and 1BY 4 -wheel air suspension
Note: Due to different alignment platforms, it maybe necessary to raise the vehicle at the front axle so that it is possible to insert VAG1925 spacer. After the vehicle is lowered, it should be bottomed out.
^ Insert VAG1925 spacer using VAG1925/3 or VAG1925/4 adapters and VAG1925/6 adapter.
^ Unscrew both thread spindles until...
... they just come to rest against front bolts -arrow- of carrier.
The vehicle may not be raised as a result of this!
The vehicle is now in initial position.
On all suspension versions (except sport suspension)
This is the position in which the alignment program checks whether the existing toe-in per wheel corresponds to a specified value of + 10' ± 30' (rough pre-adjustment). If necessary, correct toe-in by adjusting the length of the tie rod.
The alignment program only indicates a correction if required.
Raise vehicle. Suspension 1BA, 1BC, 1BE, 1BG, 1BH, 1BP, 1BT, 1BJ, 1BY,
Note:
^ During the next step make sure that the wheels do not lose contact with the turntables when the vehicle is raised!
^ If this should happen anyway, the turntables may not be moved. Otherwise, the result of the measurement will be incorrect!
^ Apply axle lift to front jacking points and raise vehicle.
Note: Raise vehicle by 60 mm.
^ Push out cylinder in threaded spindles and fix with safety bolts.
Make sure that the safety bolts (arrows) are correctly positioned!
^ Lower vehicle onto spacer gauge VAG1925.
Raise vehicle: Rough terrain suspension 1BB
Note:
^ During the next step make sure that the wheels do not lose cont3ct with the turntables when the vehicle is raised!
^ If this should happen anyway, the turntables may not be moved. Otherwise, the result of the measurement will be incorrect!
^ Apply axle lift to the front jacking points and raise vehicle.
Note: Raise vehicle by 40 mm.
^ Take off adapter VAG1 925/6.
^ Push out cylinder in threaded spindles and fix with safety bolts.
^ Lower vehicle on spacer gauge..
