Power steering / oil circulation for 6-cylinder engine
General Information
Power steering pump is not designed to be serviced. If a customer has reported a problem, determine cause via the pressure test and leak test. If there is a problem, replace the power steering pump.

Oil circulation in Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles is identical to Left Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles except that the hydraulic lines are routed from left to right at the steering gear.

Note:
^ If power steering fluid is low in the reservoir, check the steering system for leaks.
^ In case of leaks near line connections, check fines1line connections for proper seal, if necessary tighten and wipe dry.
^ Replacement pumps from the distribution center do not contain any fluid. Before installing, fill pump with G 002 000 hydraulic o# and turn pump by hand. Otherwise, the pump may be noisy when operating or may even get damaged.
^ Oil type: G 002 000 hydraulic fluid

^ Tighten union nut to 40 Nm (at item 19 while counterholding hex bolt.
3. Return hose
4. Cover with dipstick
^ Check fluid level
5. Hex bolt, 9 Nm
6. Power steering fluid reservoir
^ Capacity 0.85L
7. Rubber bushing
8. Return hose
Located between power steering fluid reservoir and cooling line
9. Intake hose
^ Installation position refer to Fig. 1
^ Markings must align
10. Clamp
^ Tighten using VAG 1275
11. Clamp
^ Tighten using VAG 1275
12. Combination bolt
^ 9 Nm
13. Cooling line
14. Line Marking must align with the intake hose marking
15. Intake hose
^ Marking -P- faces toward pump
16. Power steering pump
^ Before installing, fill with power steering fluid
^ Check delivery pressure
17. Seal, IS x 22
^ Always replace
18. Banjo fitting, 47 Nm
^ M16 x 1.5
19. Expansion hose
^ Partial section with line, goes to steering gear
20. Hex bolt, 6 Nm
^ M6 x 20
21. Coolant line
22. Hex-nut, tighten to 20 Nm.
^ M8
^ Secures expansion hose to coolant line
23. Sheet-metal screw and washer assembly
^ 2 Nm
24. Heat shield
25. Spring nut
^ 1.3 Nm
