Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair


Steering angle sensor -G85-, removing and installing
Removing

WARNING:
^ Before removing steering wheel, wheels must be positioned in the straight-ahead position.
^ Observe safety precautions for working on airbags,
^ If these procedures are not observed, the airbag system may not function properly during vehicle operation!


^ Remove airbag control module.
^ Disengage clip for airbag.





^ Disconnect connector for steering angle sensor (arrow).
^ Remove steering wheel.
^ Remove airbag control module.

Removing steering column switch
^ Disengage steering column adjustment.
^ Remove steering column completely.





^ Remove bolt-1- (2x). Tightening torque 3 Nm.
^ Remove handle -2-.





^ Remove two Phillips head screws (arrows).
Tightening torque: 0.6 Nm
^ Remove upper trim for steering wheel switch -1-.
To install, insert upper trim piece into catches of lower trim piece, swing down and bolt.





^ Remove bolts -2- (2x). Tightening torque 0.6 Nm.
^ Remove hex bolt -1-.
Tightening torque: 0.6 Nm
^ Remove lower trim for steering wheel switch -3-.





^ Disengage steering angle sensor at catches (arrows).





^ Disconnect harness connectors (arrows)

Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal.
^ Zero steering angle sensor.
