Air unit mount, assembly overview
Tightening torque for all air lines on Audi A6: 2 Nm





1. Air supply unit
2. Rubber bushing
^ Kidney-shaped recess faces upwards
3. Air supply unit holder
4. Self-locking hex nut
6. Rubber grommet
6. Hexbolt, 25 Nm
7. Holder support section 1
8. Hex nut, 25 Nm
9. Speed nut M8 x 25 x 17
10. Holder support section 2

CAUTION: On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar, switch-off the emergency (back-up) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting the vehicle battery. Switch-on the emergency (back-up) battery after reconnecting the vehicle battery

^ Removing
^ Switch off ignition.
^ Disconnect battery ground (GND) strap.
Prior to removal of air supply unit with mount tool kit, navigation system or CD changer must be taken out
^ Unplug black connector -A-.
^ Unplug red connector -B-.
^ Unscrew air connections -C-.
^ When pulling out compressed air lines, take care not to after position of cutting rings at front of line, as otherwise leaks may occur on re-installation.
^ Unscrew hex nuts, Item -8-.

Installing





^ Instead of bonded joint, additional attachment points are required on installing holder -3-.
^ Remove dirt (wax etc.) on inside holder support area of body.
^ Remove grommet in bottom part of unit holder.
^ Insert unit holder in body and screw to wheel housing flange and longitudinal member.
^ Make three 8.5 mm diameter holes in unit holder and body at marked locations (holder).
^ Remove unit holder and deburr holes.
^ Remove corrosion protection (PVC) in nut on outside of body.
^ Insert unit holder and screw on as follows.

Tightening sequence:





^ Holder to longitudinal member -A-
^ Holder to wheel housing flange -B-
^ 1- Hex bolt, 25 Nm
^ 2- Hex flange nut
^ 3- Speed nut
^ Insert rubber grommet
^ Seal attaching points on outside of body (black Terolan).
^ Insert unit with support sections -1- and -2- in unit holder and screw on.
^ Pay attention to installation position of rubber bushings, Item 2.
^ Listen to make sure connectors engage properly.
^ Take care not to alter position of cutting rings on compressed air lines when inserting valves, as otherwise screw connection may leak.
Perform remaining installation operations in reverse order.
