Transmission shift elements





Transmission diagram (all wheel drive)
A = Clutch A
B = Clutch B
C = Clutch C
D = Brake D
E = Brake E
F = Brake F
F1 = Freewheel 1
W = Torque converter clutch
Z 1 ... Z 3 = Spur gears (intermediate drive front; ratios.
Z 4, Z 5 = Ring gear and pinion (front final drive; ratios.
Z 6, Z 7 =Spur gears for intermediate drive rear; ratios.
Z 8, Z 9 = Spur gear for rear differential: ratios.
1 = Driving direction
2 = Front axle differential
3 = Front axle drive
4 = Rear axle drive
5 = Torsen differential
6 = Rear differential

Note:
^ Before attempting to repair the transmission check DTC memory first.
^ When dealing with problems relating to poor acceleration and performance or general malfunctions, the following chart indicates which selector elements are actuated in the various transmission ranges. This should help to identify the selector elements which are not working property.
^ If not otherwise described, the clutch and solenoid valve logic in the respective selector lever positions is the same as for the permanent driving range D.
