5 Speed Automatic 01V


VAS5051 tester or VAG 1551 scan tool, connecting and selecting functions
Test requirements
^ Selector lever in position "P" and parking brake applied.
^ Vehicle voltage supply OK
^ Power supply and fuses for respective system OK
^ Ground (GND) connections and Ground point for transmission OK
^ Check Ground connections for corrosion and damage and repair if necessary.
^ Check battery Ground (GND) strap and Ground strap between battery and transmission.
^ Switch ignition off.





^ Connect VAS5051 tester to vehicle with VAS5051/1 diagnostic wire. Alternately, VAG 1551 Scan Tool can also be attached using VAG 1551/3 adapter.

Note:
^ The DLC is located below the front knee bar at Me /left side.

WARNING:
^ When driving the vehicle for measurement and test purposes, vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS50511VAG1551 scan tool is always to be attached to rear seat and operated from there.
^ Pay attention to safety precautions.


Note: The following description only explains implementation of On Board Diagnostic using VAG1551 Scan tool. When using the VAS5051 make sure the tester instructions are followed.

Notes:
^ Additional operating instructions can be retrieved by pressing the HELP key of VAG 1551.
^ The--> key is used for advancing within the program sequence.
^ An automatic check (keys 00) can be carried out in the operating mode 1 "Rapid data transfer". Then all vehicle control modules will be checked automatically.
=> Scan tool VAG 1551 operating instructions.
^ Switch on ignition.
^ Switch on printer with the Print key (indicator lamp in key lights up).
^ Press key 1 for "Rapid data transfer' mode.

^ Press keys 0 and 2. (Enter the address word "transmission electronics" with 02.)

^ Confirm entry with key Q.

Control module Identification
Depending upon the software version, the control module may indicate a different control module identification, to that shown in the example. Allocation of control module => Parts catalog.
^ 4BO927156 BT: Part number
^ AG5 01V: 5-speed automatic transmission 01V
^ 2.815V: Engine version
^ USA: (country allocation), USA and CANADA
^ 1416: 14 = program version; 16 = data version
^ Coding 00002: Coding.
^ WSC 00000: Dealer number of VAG 1551, with which the last coding was performed





Indicated on display:
^ By pressing the HELP key, a list of possible fault causes is printed out.
^ After eliminating the possible causes of faults, again enter address word 02 for "transmission electronics" and confirm.

If "Control module does not answer!" again appears:





Indicated on display:
Check control module voltage supply.
^ Perform test step 1, Electrical check.
^ Check wiring connections to diagnostic sockets
=> Electrical Wiring Diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component Locations binder
^ Replace control module if necessary
Location and removing and installing control module, item 1
^ Press (arrow) key.
