Seat, Removing And Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331/
NOTE:
- Before disconnecting battery: Establish radio code
- To remove drivers seat: Move steering wheel as far forward and upward as possible.
- If backrest covers are to be removed on a convenience seat, move backrest head adjustment forward..
- Move height adjustment and seat inclination as far upward as possible and backrest to 90 degrees position.
1 - Front seat
Removing
CAUTION:
- Before removing seat: Disconnect battery Ground (GND) wire
- On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar, switch-off emergency (back-up) battery for Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting vehicle battery. Switch-on emergency (back-up) battery after reconnecting vehicle battery.
- Remove outer floor panel anchorage point.
- Remove belt out of side trim.
- Remove front runner covers.
- Remove rear runner covers.
- Move front seat - 1 - up and back as far as possible..
- Remove rear bolts - 2 - (2x).
- Move seat forward.
- Remove front bolts - 2 - (2x).
- Tilt front seat - 1 - backward.
NOTE: Technician must electrostatically discharge him/herself before disconnecting ignition and Ground (GND) wires (briefly touch closing wedge for door or body).
- Disconnect airbag connector - 6 -.
- Disconnect power supply connector - 5 -.
- Disconnect heated seat connector - 4 -.
- Connect up airbag adapter.
- Lift front seat - 1 - out of vehicle with assistance of a second mechanic.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
- On USA vehicles, make sure bump stop is fitted at front passengers seat.
- Switch on ignition.
CAUTION: Make sure there is no-one in vehicle when connecting battery.
- Connect battery Ground (GND) wire.
2 - Bolts
- Qty. 4
- Tightening torque 40 Nm
3 - Emergency power supply connector for seat forward and backward, seat height and seat inclination adjustment motors (black)
4 - Heated seat connector (grey)
5 - Power supply connector (red)
6 - Airbag connector (yellow)
