Ribbed belt drive for power steering pump, alternator and A/C compressor - assembly overview
Note:
^ Before removing the ribbed belt, mark the direction of rotation with chalk or a felt pen. A used belt can break if it runs in the wrong direction.
^ Check that the belt is properly seated on pulleys when installing

3 - 45 Nm
4 - Alternator
5 - 43 Nm
6 - 10 Nm
7 - Upper idler wheel
^ For ribbed belt

^ For idler wheel
^ Note installation position: press fit in bracket for torque reaction mount
9 - 22 Nm
^ Apply locking fluid before installing
^ For required locking fluid:
^ Refer to Part Supplier
10 - Ribbed belt tensioner

12 - Vibration damper
13 - Lower idler wheel
^ For ribbed belt

^ For power steering pump

^ Deferent thicknesses
^ Determine required thickness after replacing power steering pump, A/C compressor or bracket for power steering pump and
^ A/C compressor go to Checking alignment of ribbed belt

^ Removing and installing:

^ For power steering pump and A/C compressor
^ Ensure that dowel sleeves -Item 24 - are in correct position when installing
20 - Dowel sleeve

^ Check that sleeve is correctly seated in bracket

22 - A/C compressor
^ Ensure that dowel sleeves -Item 20 - are in correct position when installing
23 - 22 Nm
24 - Dowel sleeve

^ Check for correct seating

^ For idler wheel

^ Lock carrier must be pulled out to the front.
^ Ribbed belt must be removed.
- Use pin wrench 3212 as a brace when loosening and tightening bolts (arrows).
^ Installation position: marking "vorne" (front) faces in direction of travel.
^ Tightening torque: 22 Nm
