Fuel Supply Sensor 3 -G237- (tubular Sensor, Left Side), Removing And Installing

- 3087 wrench for tank sensor

Removing
Observe safety precautions.
Observe rules for cleanliness.

- To remove the tubular sensor, the left fuel tank chamber may only be filled to a maximum of 1/3. Procedure to drain fuel tank.

CAUTION:
- On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R), switch-off the emergency (back-up) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting vehicle battery. Use must use the VAS 5051 or VAS 5052.
- The battery must only be disconnected and connected with the ignition switched off, since the Engine Control Module (ECM) can otherwise be damaged.

- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap with the ignition switched off.
- Open fuel filler cap briefly and then close again.
- Remove luggage compartment floor lining.

NOTE: To remove and install tubular sensor, it is advantageous to remove vehicle tools and spare wheel from luggage compartment. It is then possible to sit or kneel in spare wheel well.







- Remove cover for left connector flange (arrows).







- Carefully release and disconnect electrical harness connectors -1- and -2- on left connector flange.







- Use 3087 wrench to remove locking ring.
- Disconnect connector flange and remove sealing ring.







- Disconnect electrical harness connectors -1 to -3- on underside of left connector flange.







- Press release buttons (arrows) through left fuel tank opening and disconnect delivery line -2- as well as Fuel Supply Sensor 3 -G237- (-Item 1-).
- Swing Fuel Supply Sensor 3 -G237- to the side toward left.







- Press down both clips at mount for fuel delivery unit (arrows).
- Pull fuel delivery unit slightly upward and remove Fuel Supply Sensor 3 -G237- simultaneously.

Installing







- Before installing fuel delivery unit, pull both clips upward on mount until they engage (arrows).
- Now, carefully press fuel delivery unit into mount until it engages audibly.







- Connect delivery line -2- and Fuel Supply Sensor 3 -G237- (-Item 1-) until they engage audibly.







- Connect electrical harness connectors -1- to -3- on underside of left connector flange.
- Insert new, dry seal for connector flange into opening of fuel tank.
- Insert left connector flange in fuel tank, note installation position:







The tab -2- on connector flange must lie between tabs -1- and -3- on fuel tank.







- Tighten locking ring (120 Nm).







- Connect electrical harness connectors -1- and -2- to left connector flange.







- Tighten cover for left connector flange (arrows).
- Connect battery. Observe safety precautions after connecting the battery.
