Diagnostic Mode 6: Check Test Results Of Components That Are Not Continuously Monitored

Diagnostic mode 6: Check test results of components that are not continuously monitored

Function
This diagnostic mode displays the test results of emission relevant components and systems which are not continuously monitored.

The values of the individual test results must reach the specified value or must be within the min.- and max.- limits.

Test-ID Components Test
01: Catalytic converter monitoring
03: Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system
05: Tank ventilation system
09: Coolant temperature sensor

Test-ID 01: Catalytic converter

Test requirement
Coolant temperature must be at least 80 degree C, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measured values; PID 5, Coolant temperature.

Procedure
- Connect diagnostic tester. Scan Tool Connecting
- Perform a 15 minute road test in the highest gear or in the highest driving mode on a level driving surface.

The following operating conditions must be met during this road test:
- Engine speed approx. 1800 to 2200 RPM, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measuring values; PID 12, engine rotations per minute (RPM)

- Vehicle speed constant 90 km/h, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measuring values; PID 13, Vehicle speed

Observe the safety precautions that apply to road tests.

- Let engine run at idle.
- Under address word 33, select "Diagnostic mode 6: Check test results of components that are not continuously monitored".
- Select the "Test-ID 01: Catalytic converter" off.
- Check specified values at idle.

- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

If the specified values are exceeded:
- Replace the respective exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.

Test-ID 03: Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system

Test requirements
There must not be any DTCs stored in DTC memory, Diagnostic mode 3: Check DTC memory.

Let vehicle stand for approx. 12 hours with engine switched off under the following conditions:
- Intake air temperature 10 to 50 degree C, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measured values; PID 15: Intake Air Temperature (IAT)
- Coolant temperature approx. intake air temperature (10 to 50 degree C), Diagnostic mode 1: Check measured values; PID 5, Coolant temperature.

Procedure
- Connect diagnostic tester Scan Tool Connecting
- Start engine and let run at least 15 minutes at idle.
- Under address word 33, select "Diagnostic mode 6: Check test results of components that are not continuously monitored".
- Select the "Test-ID 03: Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system"
- Check specified values at idle.

- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

If the specified values are not reached:
- Check secondary air system for proper seal. Testing and Inspection
- Check Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Motor -V101-. Testing and Inspection

Test-ID 05: Tank ventilation system

Test requirement
- Coolant temperature must be 80 to 110 degree C, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measured values; PID 5, Coolant temperature.

- Throttle valve angle 12.0 to 16.0%, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measured values; PID 17: Throttle valve position (absolute)

Procedure
- Connect diagnostic tester Scan Tool Connecting
- Start engine and let run at least 15 minutes at idle.
- Under address word 33, select "Diagnostic mode 6: Check test results of components that are not continuously monitored".
- Select the "Test-ID 05: Tank ventilation system".
- Check specified values at idle.

- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

If the specified values are not reached:
- EVAP canister system, checking for proper seal. Testing and Inspection
- Leak detection pump (LDP) -V144-, checking. Testing and Inspection

Test-ID 09: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor -G62-

Test requirement
- There must not be any DTCs stored in DTC memory, Diagnostic mode 3: Check DTC memory.

Procedure
- Connect diagnostic tester.
- Perform a road test until a coolant temperature of 80 to 100 degree C has been reached, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measured values; PID 5, Coolant temperature.
- Switch ignition off.
- Start engine at a coolant temperature of 80 to 90 degree C and let it run at idle.
- Perform a 5 minute road test in the highest gear or in the highest driving mode on a level driving surface.

Observe the safety precautions that apply to road tests.

The following operating conditions must be met during this road test:
- Engine speed approx. 1800 to 2200 RPM, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measuring values; PID 12, engine rotations per minute (RPM)
- Vehicle speed constant 90 km/h, Diagnostic mode 1: Check measuring values; PID 13, Vehicle speed
- Let engine run at idle.
- Under address word 33, select "Diagnostic mode 6: Check test results of components that are not continuously monitored".
- Select the "Test-ID 09: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor".
- Check specified value at idle.
Specified value: System OK
- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

If specified value is not obtained:
- Check Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor -G62- Testing and Inspection
- Check coolant regulator.
