Battery Switch-off Relay -J655-, Removing And Installing
Removing
CAUTION: On vehicles fitted with telematics system, activate telematics control module service mode before disconnecting battery. Use VAS Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System in mode: "Guided Fault Finding".
CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal.
- Remove right luggage compartment side trim cover -arrows-.
- Remove battery terminal covers -1- and -2-.
- Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal -2-
- Disconnect positive ( B+ ) battery terminal -3-.
- Release catch -1- and open flap over battery switch-off relay.
- Remove nuts at positive terminal -2- and negative terminal -1-.
- Release retainer and remove connector -4- from holder.
- Disconnect electrical connection.
- Release retainer tabs -arrows- and remove relay from mounting.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
After battery is reconnected:
- Deactivate telematics control module service mode. Use VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System in mode: "Guided Fault Finding".
- Activate automatic open/close function of electric window lifters.
- Turn ignition key in ignition lock once to left as far as it will go.
- Synchronize any additional keys to ensure remote operation.
- Use VAS 5051 to check and erase all control module DTC memories related to "low voltage".
NOTE: After re-connecting power supply, ABS warning lamp may only go out after the vehicle has been driven a few meters.
