Ignition Switch: Service and Repair
Access/Start Authorization Switch - E415-, Removing And Installing
NOTE:
- Reader coil for immobilizer is integrated with Access/Start Authorization Switch -E415- and cannot be replaced separately.
- Access/Start Authorization Switch -E415- must be replaced if reader coil malfunctions.
- Adaptation is not necessary if only Access/Start Authorization Switch -E415- is replaced.
- Adaptation must be performed if keys are replaced in addition to Access/Start Authorization Switch -E415-.
- VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System must be used for this purpose.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Socket T10152
Removing
WARNING: When working on knee airbag, observe safety precautions for working on airbags.
CAUTION:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Remove driver's storage compartment.
- Use small screwdriver to pry off trim ring -arrow-.
- Remove nut at entry and start authorization switch using socket T10152.
- Remove switch to rear.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Heed installation position of entry and start authorization switch with respect to driver's storage compartment.
- Lug -1- facing upward
- Hand-tighten nut with socket T10152.
- Heed installation position of trim ring.
- Lugs -3- must engage in recesses -2- at switch
