Energy Management Control Module -J644-, Removing And Installing

Removing
- If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine.
- VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information system must be used for this purpose.

CAUTION:
- Under no circumstances must the battery be charged during the removal and installation of -J644-.
- On vehicles fitted with Telematics system, activate Telematics control module service mode before disconnecting battery. Use VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System in mode: "Guided Fault Finding".
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.

- Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal.







- Remove Ground (GND) stud -3- and nut -2-.
- Remove control module -J644-.
- Disconnect electrical connectors -1-.
- Remove Ground (GND) wire from control module to battery.

Installing

CAUTION: In order to ensure the proper function of -J644-, the sequence of the following procedure must be strictly followed.

1 Reinstall Ground (GND) wire from battery to relay







2 Reinstall control module to vehicle in conjunction with Ground (GND) stud -3- and nut -2-
3 Reconnect negative (-) battery terminal to battery
4 Reconnect electrical connectors -1-

Then:
- Deactivate Telematics control module service mode. Use VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic Testing and Information System in mode: "Guided Fault Finding".
- Activate automatic open/close function of electric window lifters.
- Turn ignition key in ignition lock once to left as far as it will go.
- Synchronize any additional keys to ensure remote operation.
- Use VAS 5051 to check and erase all control module DTC memories related to "low voltage".

NOTE: After re-connecting power supply, ABS warning lamp may only go out after the vehicle has been driven a few meters.
