Crash Signal, Checking
Crash Signal, Checking
The engine control module receives a crash signal ("crash deactivation triggered") from the airbag control module.
If the airbag control module transmits a crash signal to the engine control module (in the event of an accident or final control diagnosis for airbag system), the engine control module switches off the fuel pump, i.e. the engine stops, but can subsequently be restarted (e.g. to move vehicle out of danger zone).
- Connect test box V.A.G 1598/31 at wiring harness to engine control module. Actual engine control module is not to be connected. Wiring And Component Check Using Test Box V.A.G 1598/31
- Check for open circuit and short to Ground/positive in following wiring:
Test box V.A.G Airbag control module
1598/31 Socket -J234- Contact
67 -
- Eliminate open circuit in wiring/short circuit if necessary.
If no fault is found in wiring:
- Interrogate airbag control module fault memory.
