Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), Checking

Checking operation of MIL
- Switch ignition on.
- MIL must light

- Start engine.
- Shortly after starting engine MIL must go out if no faults of relevance to emissions have been stored in DTC memory

NOTE: The activation signal for the fault lamp is transmitted from the engine control module to the instrument cluster by means of the CAN bus. Check data exchange between engine control module and other control modules with CAN capability.
