Additional Safety Precautions For Roll-over Protection

- Testing, removing, installing and repair work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
- Always disconnect power supply when working on the rollover protection.
- The rollover protection must only be removed and installed when extended. The rollover protection can be extended using the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 A.
- After pushing in, the rollover protection must have approx. 1-2 mm downward play.
- There must be no one in the vicinity of the rollover protection when battery is being connected (approx. 1 m distance).
- The rollover protection should be installed immediately after removing from its transport container.
- Leaving the rollover protection unattended is not permitted.
- The rollover protection must be stored horizontally when not installed.
- The rollover protection must be neither dismantled nor repaired. Always use new components only..
- Rollover protection which is dropped on a hard surface or is damaged (particularly at the solenoid switch) must not be installed.
- All damaged components must be replaced after an accident. The rollover protection can be reused if no signs of damage to rollover protection are found. Perform a functional test on rollover protection, using vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 A.
- During control element test the flap for rollover protection must be clipped in and no items must be positioned on the flap.
- No repair work must be carried out on convertible top compartment lid in area of cover and on flap for rollover protection.
- Install necessary shims when installing.
- During body repairs in area of rollover protection, always remove rollover protection.
- After body repairs in the vicinity of rollover protection the body must be checked for welding splashes, deformation or abrasion (compare to opposite side).
