Front Seat Backrest, Assembly Overview

Special tools and workshop equipment required







- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331

CAUTION: Observe relevant safety precautions for vehicles installed with side airbags.







1 - Backrest
- Removing
- Remove seat.
- Attach fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 to engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
- Attach front seat to future for seat repair VAS 6136.
- Remove backrest adjuster.
- Remove seat height adjuster.
- Remove side trim on sill panel side.
- Remove side trim on tunnel side.
- Disconnect connectors - 7 - (3x).
- Remove cables at mounting rails.
- Remove bolts - 2 - (4x).
- Tilt backrest - 1 - forward onto seat.
- Press cushion aside and carefully pull wiring harness out of seat pan - 9 -.
- Remove backrest - 1 -.
- Installing
- Replace bolts - 2 - (4x).
- Before inserting bolts - 2 - (4x) recut the thread in the backrest frame.
- Install backrest - 1 - in reverse order of removal.

- Tightening torque 20 Nm
3 - Backrest adjuster
4 - Plastic rivet (2x)
5 - Seat height adjuster
6 - Side trim, sill panel side
7 - Connector (3x)
8 - Seat pan
9 - Side trim, tunnel side
10 - Plastic rivet (2x)
