Rear Suspension
Stabilizer bar, removing and installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331
Removing
- Remove rear floor pan panels.
Convertible only
- Remove rear diagonal brace.
Vehicles with 2 rear mufflers
- Remove rear section of exhaust system.
Vehicles with comfort/heavy-duty suspension
- Remove stone shield from trapezoidal link.
Continued for all vehicles
- Remove bolts - 1 -.
- Remove bolts - 2 -.
- Counterhold joint with open-end wrench.
- Remove bolts - 3 -.
- Remove stabilizer bar with bushings.
Installing
- Rubber bushing must make contact with collar - arrow - on stabilizer bar.
- Install bolts - 3 - and initially tighten hand-tight only.
- Install and tighten bolts - 2 -.
- Install and tighten bolts - 1 -.
- Lower vehicle onto its wheels and bounce suspension several times.
- Tighten bolts - 3 - to specified torque.
Vehicles with comfort/heavy-duty suspension
- Install stone shield and tighten bolts.
Vehicles with 2 rear mufflers
- Install and align exhaust system.
Convertible only
- Install rear diagonal brace.
Continued for all vehicles
- Install rear floor pan panel.
