CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch the ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal.
- Prior to disconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R), switch-off the emergency (back-up) battery for Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526.
- After reconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R), switch-on the emergency (back-up) battery for Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526.
- When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks as specified in.

Cellular telephone installed as optional equipment in conjunction with telematics system from model year 2002 through 10.04 production. All telephone functions are integrated with the telematics system.

Before troubleshooting or servicing, technicians must be familiar with the functions and operation specifics of the optional telephone/telematics system. Always read the appropriate owners manuals and review all system functions.
