CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:
- Switch off all electrical consumers.
- Switch the ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Disconnect negative (-) battery terminal.
- Prior to disconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar (R), switch-off the emergency (back-up) battery for Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526.
- After reconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R),switch-on the emergency (back-up) battery for Telephone/Telematics Control Module J526.
- When disconnecting and reconnecting battery terminals, observe all applicable Notes and torque specifications, as well as instructions on performing OBD program and electrical system function checks as specified in.
Navigation System "Navigation IV" installed as optional equipment from model year 2002 through 10.04 production.
The main enhancement of "Navigation IV" over previous version is system integration with the Infotainment CAN-Bus.
All displays appear via the instrument cluster (which is connected to the CAN bus).
All entries are made using the buttons on the center console-mounted function switch.
The navigation system voice messages are transmitted via radio system loudspeakers.
The system consists of:
- Function Selector Switch II E272
- Instrument cluster (integrated display)
- Navigation System with CD Drive Control Module J401
- Navigation System Antenna R50
Before troubleshooting or servicing, technicians must be familiar with the functions and operation specifics of the optional navigation system. Always read the appropriate owners manuals and review all system functions.
