Mode 8: Tank Leak Test



Mode 8: Tank Leak Test

This diagnostic mode checks the fuel system for leaks.

NOTE: The Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve -N80- and Leak detection pump (LDP) -V144- seal the
tank system.

Test requirements:
- No DTCs in DTC memory; check DTC memory see "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Mode 3: Check DTC Memory
- Intake Air Temperature (IAT) maximum 60 degrees C see "Mode 1: Check measuring values "; "PID 15: Intake air temperature". Mode 1: Check Measured Values
- Coolant temperature 80 to 110 degrees C see "Mode 1: Check measuring values "; "PID 05: Coolant temperature". Mode 1: Check Measured Values
- Throttle valve angle 12.0 to 16.0% see "Mode 1: Check measuring values "; "PID 17: Throttle valve position (absolute)". Mode 1: Check Measured Values

Test sequence
- Connect diagnostic tester.
- Start engine and let run at idle for at least 15 minutes.
- In diagnostic function "33. OBD", select "Mode 8: Tank leak test".
- Select the "Test-ID 01: Tank leak test".
- Check specified value of tank leak test at idle.

Tank leak test Specified value
- Test function active Test OK
- Test function is being
initiated, please wait
- Test off
- Test aborted

NOTE:
- If the accelerator pedal is depressed during the test, the test will be aborted.
- To repeat the tank leak test, switch ignition off and start engine again and let run 15 minutes at idle.

If specified value is obtained:
- End diagnosis and switch ignition off.

If specified value is not obtained:
- EVAP canister system, checking for proper seal. Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister System, Checking For Proper Seal

Final procedures
After repair work, the following work steps must be performed in the mentioned sequence:
1. Check DTC memory See "Mode 3: Check DTC memory". Mode 3: Check DTC Memory
2. If necessary, erase DTC memory see "Mode 4: Reset/erase diagnostic data". Mode 4: Reset/Erase Diagnostic Data
3. Generate readiness code. Readiness Code, Generating
