Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Multi-function TR switch - F125-, removing and installing, 09G, 6 Speed A/T
Special tools and equipment required
^ T10173 Adjustment tool
^ V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench
Removing
- Shift selector lever into position "N".
- Switch ignition off.
- Disconnect hose - 5 - from air cleaner housing.
- Use screwdriver to press selector lever cable - 1 - off lever/selector shaft - 6 -.
Note:
^ Do not loosen bolt - 2 -.
^ Do not kink selector lever cable.
- Disconnect connector - 5 - at multi-function TR switch.
- Remove lever/selector shaft - 1 -.
- Bend back hook of circlip - 2 - with a screwdriver.
Note: If one or more of the circlip hooks break off while being bent, the circlip must be replaced.
- Remove nut - 3 - with washers - 2 - and - 1 -.
- Remove both bolts -B- and disconnect multi-function TR switch -A- up over selector shaft.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order. Note the following:
- Attach Multi-function TR switch - F125 - to selector shaft.
- Screw in securing bolts -B- of multi-function TR switch hand-tight.
- Install washers - 1 -, - 2 - and nut - 3 - on selector shaft.
Tightening torque of nuts: 7 Nm
- Secure nut by bending up hooks on circlip - 2 -.
Note: If one or more of the circlip hooks break off while being bent, the circlip must be replaced.
- Install Multi-function TR switch - F125 -.
- Install lever/selector shaft - 1 -.
Tightening torque of nuts - 3 -: 12.5 Nm
Note: The transmission must remain in "N" position, shift back to "N" if necessary.
- Connect connector - 5 - to multi-function TR switch.
- Press selector lever cable - 1 - onto lever/selector shaft - 6 -.
Note:
^ It may be necessary to shift the lever/selector shaft to the right position to be able to press on the selector lever cable.
^ Do not kink selector lever cable.
- Connect hose - 5 - to air cleaner housing.
- Check setting of selector lever cable.
