Transmission mounting, removing and installing, 09G, 6 Speed A/T
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ 10-222 A Support bar
^ 10-222 A/12 Shackle
Removing
- Loosen bolts (arrows) and remove cover from engine.
- Remove battery cover (arrows).
- Refer to coding on vehicles with encoded radio/radio navigation system (RNS); obtain if necessary.
Note: Before disconnecting the battery observe the necessary measures.
- Disconnect Ground strap (arrow) at battery with ignition switched off.
- Loosen clamp - 4 - and disconnect intake hose and connector - 1 - from Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
- If present, disconnect hose - 5 - from air cleaner housing.
- Unscrew bolts - 2 - and - 3 -, then remove entire air cleaner housing.
- Remove battery and battery bracket (arrows).
- Install support bar 10-222A together with supports 10-222 A/1.
- Secure support bar at wheel housing plate (arrows).
- If hose and cable connections are located in area of engine lifting eyes for support bar 10-222A, they must now be removed.
- Secure hook of spindle at engine lifting eye using shackle 10-222 A/12.
- Slightly pre-tension engine/transmission assembly via spindle.
- Unscrew bolts - 2 - to release transmission console -A- from transmission mounting.
- Remove all components to obtain access to bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Unscrew bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Remove transmission mounting -A-.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order. Note the following:
- Remove transmission console -A-.
- Both bolts - 1 - must be replaced.
- Raise transmission to support using spindle of support bar.
CAUTION! Before screwing in the bolts of the transmission support/transmission console, support and console must be absolutely parallel to each other, otherwise the thread will be damaged. If necessary, raise transmission at rear with trolley jack.
- Screw transmission mounting to transmission console -A- with bolts - 2 -, see tightening procedure.
CAUTION! Support bar 10-222A must not be removed until all bolts on left and right of subframe mount have been tightened to specified torque.
