Self-adjusting clutch (manufactured by LuK), assembly overview
1 - Dual-mass flywheel
- Follow removal instructions.
- Make sure centering pins are in place and seated correctly.
- Contact surface for clutch lining must be free of grooves, oil and grease.
2 - clutch plate
- Only replace together with SAC pressure plate.
- Installed position: Marking "Getriebeseite" faces transmission.
3 - SAC pressure plate
- SAC = "self-adjusting clutch"
- Check ends of diaphragm spring.
- Check connections of springs and rivets.
- Only replace together with clutch plate.
4 - M6 = 13 Nm; M7 = 20 Nm; M8 = 22 Nm
- Remove in sequence in a clockwise direction in steps of 90° (1/4 turn) until pressure plate is free.
- Follow installation instructions.
- Allocate via engine code Parts Catalog.
Checking ends of diaphragm spring
- Wear up to half the thickness of diaphragm spring - arrow - is permitted.
Note: Pressure plate and clutch plate must only be replaced together. Allocate pressure plate and clutch plate via engine code Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
Check connections of springs and rivets
- Check spring connections - arrows A - for damage and rivets - arrows B - for secure seating.
- Pressure plates with very kinked or broken spring connections or loose rivets must be replaced.
Note: Pressure plate and clutch plate must only be replaced together. Allocate pressure plate and clutch plate via engine code Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
Removal instructions for dual-mass flywheel
Note: To prevent damage to the dual-mass flywheel when removing, bolts - B - must not be unscrewed using an air-powered or impact wrench. Only removing bolts by hand is permitted.
- Rotate dual-mass flywheel - A- so that bolts stand centered to holes - arrows -.
- When removing bolts, make sure that no bolt head makes contact on dual-mass flywheel because it will otherwise be damaged when further screwing the bolt.
