Passenger Side Airbag, Removing And Installing

CAUTION: Always read updated safety regulations for performing repair work on airbag.







1 - Passenger side airbag unit

- Removing
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Remove glove box
- Disconnect connector - 5 -

CAUTION: Never unplug red two-pin connector at passenger side airbag unit.

- Remove screws - 3 - (4x).
- Remove airbag unit.
- Remove screws - 2 - (4x).
- Set down airbag unit with impact cushion facing upward.

- Installing
- Install airbag unit.
- Make sure connector - 5 - engages properly (audible click).
- Switch ignition on.

CAUTION: Make sure no one is in vehicle when connecting battery.

- Connect battery Ground (GND) strap.

2 - Screws (4x)
- Tightening torque 12 Nm
- Must be replaced if airbag has been triggered
3 - Screws (4x)
- Tightening torque 12 Nm
- Must be replaced if airbag has triggered
4 - Support
- Must be replaced if airbag has triggered
- Remove airbag unit.
- Remove screws - 2 - (4x).
5 - Connector







Disconnecting airbag connector
- Use screwdriver to lift connector - 1 - for front passenger side airbag over retainer tab - 2 - and pull off connector in direction of arrow - 3 -.

NOTE:
- After connecting the battery, check vehicle equipment (radio, clock, electric windows)
- If the Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 signals a malfunction after assembling, then DTC memory must be erased and checked again using vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 A scan tool.
