Vehicle Information
Condition
After selecting "D" "R" or "S" from Park position, the gear selection indicator in the instrument cluster flashes, and the engine revs without any gear engagement. This condition only occurs when the vehicle's gear is being changed from the Park position.
Technical Background
This can happen if the customer starts the engine, depresses the brake pedal, starts to move the gear selector from Park or Neutral position, and releases the brake pedal before the completely removing the selector from Park or Neutral.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
No repairs required. This is a vehicle function that will not allow the transmission to engage unless the driver has the brake pedal depressed.
Advise driver that the brake pedal must remain depressed when selecting desired gear from Park position.
