Gear oil, draining from bevel box

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Drip tray V.A.G1306
^ Safety goggles





Gear oil in bevel box - B -:
The bevel box is secured to the side of the transmission and has a separate self contained oil reservoir.

The gear oil in the bevel box only needs to be drained if repairs are required. It is not necessary to change the oil (lifetime filling).
- Drive vehicle onto a four-column hoist or over an inspection pit in order for it to be absolutely horizontal.





- Remove center sound insulation fasteners - 1...3-

Caution: When working close to the radiator always maintain a safe distance from the fan - danger of injury! The fan may switch on automatically.

- Place drip tray V.A.G1 306 under transmission.

Caution: Wear safety goggles. Wear protective gloves (acid resistant).





- Remove drain plug - A -
- Screw in plug - A - again.
