Servicing

A/C Refrigerant System, Servicing

HD = high pressure side
ND = low pressure side

NOTE:
- Always observe safety measures.
- A/C system components identified with an asterisk (*) may only be serviced or replaced after properly discharging refrigerant system.
- A/C system components not identified with an asterisk (*) can be serviced or replaced without discharging refrigerant system.
- Compressors supplied as replacement parts already contain the full quantity of refrigerant oil required for the A/C system.
- Do not add refrigerant to the A/C system. Always discharge, evacuate and recharge system.
- The tightening torques and O-ring diameters given also apply to the threaded connections for the refrigerant lines between components.
- Install only O-rings that are approved for use with refrigerant R134a (currently color-coded red, light purple and dark purple).

1 Oil drain plug *
2 A/C clutch -N25-
3 A/C Compressor *

CAUTION: Mark the running direction of the ribbed belt before removing. The belt could break if allowed to run in the reverse direction.

4 Pressure relief valve *
5 Condenser *
6 Receiver drier*
7 Service valve *
- High pressure side

CAUTION: Service connections must only be removed after the refrigerant has been discharged. Connections do not have check valves underneath.

NOTE: Depending on engine type, it may be necessary to remove the front suspension cross-brace in order to access service valve.

8 Cap
- With seal.
- Always re-install after using connection.
9 Connection with valve *
10 A/C pressure switch -F129- or high pressure sensor -G65-
- As a running change in production, pressure switch -F129- is replaced by high pressure sensor -G65-.
- The function of Coolant Fan Control (FC) Module -J293- and vehicle wiring layout will vary depending on whether vehicle is equipped with A/C pressure switch -F129- or high pressure sensor -G65-.
11 Expansion Valve*
12 Evaporator *
13 Cap
- With seal.
- Always re-install after using connection.
14 Service connection *
- Low pressure side

CAUTION: Service connections must only be removed after the refrigerant has been discharged. Connections do not have check valves underneath.

15 Damper *
