Convertible Top Box Lid Latch, Removing And Installing
NOTE:
- Disconnect the vehicle battery ground (GND) strap when working on the convertible top electrical system.
- All cable ties, which were released or cut open when removing must be installed in the same position when installing.
Removing left and right convertible top box lid locks
The illustration shows the leftlock in the installed position.
- Move the convertible top into center position.
- Remove the convertible top box pan front trim.
- Remove the securing disc -1-.
- Pull off the pushrod -2-.
- Mark the exact installation positions of the bolts -3- and remove them.
- Unscrew the switch -F290- (-F200- on right) and retrieve the lock.
The illustration shows the rightlock in the installed position; left side similar.
NOTE: Assembly is as for the left lock.
Installing left and right convertible top box lid locks
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
- Tighten the bolts precisely at the previously made marks, adjustment of the locks will not be necessary as a result.
- Ensure that the convertible top box lid aligns with the side panel after closing.
- Check whether the switches work with the convertible top box lid closed.
- The switches may be adjusted by changing pushrod length, by loosening the locknuts and adjusting the ball mount threaded connections.
Removing convertible top box lid latch
- Move the convertible top into center position.
- Remove the convertible top box pan front trim.
- For removal press push rod -1- from ball stud.
- Detach connector.
- Unscrew the bolts (6x).
- Remove the convertible top box lid-latch (motor -V222-/switch -F293-assembly)
- Push the connector out of its bracket.
- Drill open rivet of microswitch.
- Remove the bolts -1-.
- Pull the motor -2- out of bracket in direction of arrow -3-.
