Steering Wheel, Removing And Installing (normal Steering Wheel)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Torque Wrench V.A.G 1331







- Diagnostic Operating System VAS 5051 A







1. Torx bolts T30 (2x)
- Tightening torque 7 Nm

2. Steering wheel
- Removing:
- Remove airbag unit (normal steering wheel).
- Put steering wheel in center position (wheels straight).
- Remove bolt - 7 -.
- Disconnect connector for spiral spring - 3 -.
- For steering wheel heater: Disconnect connector for steering wheel heater - 8 -.
- Remove steering wheel - 2 -.

- Installation:
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Make sure connector and securing clip completely engage (audible).
- Attach steering wheel in center position (wheels straight).
- Replace bolt - 7 - and tighten to 50 Nm.

5. Airbag unit
6. Connector for horn
7. Socket-head bolt - Tightening torque 50 Nm
8. Connector for steering wheel heater
9. Return spring with slip ring
