A/T Controls - Shudder On Acceleration, TCM Flash
37 Vehicle shudders when accelerating from a standstill - TCM flash37 12 39

February 23, 2012.
Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 37 number 08 - 23 dated December 16, 2008 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
Condition
Vehicle shudders when accelerating from a stationary position, sometimes with fluctuating engine speed.
Technical Background
When closing the forward clutch, the friction value on the clutch plate linings is too high. When the clutch is closed with a high friction value (i.e. the plate linings stick together), the clutch pressure is immediately reduced in connection with the active clutch control to maintain comfort by allowing clutch slip. This control cycle is performed several times and leads to juddering.
Production Solution
Improved software.
Service
It is not necessary to receive an authorization number from the Technical Assistance Center for the repairs described in this bulletin.
SVM Update Instructions

3. Update the TCM (J217) using SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.
