Side Airbag (Sports Seat, Standard Seat), Removing And Installing
CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for repairs to airbag and side airbags.
1 - Side airbag, drivers/front passengers
- Removing
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Remove seat.
- Attach fixture for seat repair VAS 6136 to engine and transmission holder VAS 6095.
- Attach front seat to fixture for seat repair VAS 6136.
- Remove backrest adjuster.
- Remove seat height adjuster.
- Remove side trim on sill panel side.
- Remove side trim on tunnel side.
- Remove backrest cover panel.
- Remove backrest.
- Pry out staples - 9 - (2x).
- Remove Velcro strips - 8 - (2x).
- Disengage piping on side - 4 -.
- Pry out piping at bottom - 5 - (3x).
- Unfasten clip - 6 - at cable guide - 7 -.
- Lift out airbag cable - 3 -.
- Remove nuts - 2 - (2x) of side airbag - 1 -.
- Remove side airbag - 1 -.
- Remove clip - 11 - and carefully pull out airbag cable - 3 -.
- Installing
- Installation is in reverse order of removal.
- Make sure airbag cable - 3 - is routed between backrest frame and plastic guide - 10 - and that airbag cable - 3 - is not stretched.
- Secure clip - 11 -.
- Switch ignition on.
CAUTION: There must be no one in the vehicle when the battery is being connected.
- Connect battery Ground (GND) strap.
2 - Nuts (2x)
- Tightening torque 5 Nm
- Always replace
3 - Airbag cable
4 - Side piping
5 - Bottom piping (3x)
6 - Clip
7 - Cable guide
8 - Velcro strips (2x)
9 - Staples (2x)
- Commercially available.
- Only use upholstery stapler.
10 - Plastic guide
11 - Clip
NOTE:
- After connecting the battery observe the necessary measures.
- If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 signals a malfunction after assembly, use vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051 A to interrogate, erase and then again interrogate DTC memory.
