Transmission Support and Transmission Mounting, Removing and Installing (Left and Right)

Transmission support and transmission mounting, removing and installing (left and right), 09L, 6 Spd. A/T AWD

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A:

Removing
- Remove front exhaust pipe on relevant side of transmission.





- Detach universal mounting bracket V.A.G 1359/2 from engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A.
- Place telescopic arm of engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A centrally below cast lug on transmission housing - arrow and support transmission from below.





- Remove securing bolts (left and right) - 3 - for transmission mounting - B - at subframe - C -.

Note:
^ Always remove both transmission mountings from the subframe.





- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - and lower subframe at rear.





- Lower transmission slightly with engine/transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A to make bolts - 1 - and - 2 - more accessible.
- Remove bolts - 2 -.
- Remove heat shield - B -.





Removing transmission mounting - B -.
- Remove bolt - 1 -.
- Detach transmission mounting - B -.





Removing transmission support
- Remove bolts - 1 -.
- Remove transmission support - A - with transmission mounting.

Installing
Installation is performed in reverse sequence. Note the following:
- Install transmission supports.
- Install subframe, observing tightening sequence.

Note:
^ Do not tighten transmission mountings to subframe to specified torque until re-installation of subframe has been completed.

- To avoid tension you may have to re-align transmission mounting and transmission support.
- Tighten all bolts to specified torque.





Tightening torques for transmission support and heat shield (left and right)
1. Bolt (3x) for securing transmission support to transmission, 23 Nm
2. Bolt (3x) for securing heat shield to transmission support, 10 Nm





Tightening torques for transmission mountings (left and right)
1. Bolt (1x) for securing transmission mounting to transmission support, 50 Nm
2. Washer
3. Bolt (2x) for securing transmission mounting to subframe, 23 Nm
- Install front exhaust pipe.
