Center Console, Removing And Installing (Vehicles Up To 10.04)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Torque wrench V.A.G 1331







- Torque wrench V.A.G 1410







1 - Center console

- Removal:
- Remove center armrest.
- Remove cover at selector lever.
- Remove the radio.
- Remove A/C control head E87.
- Remove button trim - 2 -.
- Pull up parking brake firmly.
- With automatic transmissions, position selector lever all the way back.
- At the front inside footwell, remove the covers - 4 - on right and left sides at the center console side.
- Remove bolts - 3 - at the front inside footwell on right and left sides at the center console side.
- Remove parking brake lever handle.
- Remove parking brake lever trim.
- Carefully remove cover - 5 - from center console, starting at front.
- Remove two Phillips-head screws - 7- on connecting piece - 6 - and remove connecting piece. Otherwise, trim cannot be pulled away above parking brake lever.
- Remove front ashtray.
- Remove cigarette lighter.
- Remove navigation control head.
- Remove screws - 8 to 10 -.
- Vehicles with center armrest: Remove hex-combination nut - 11 -.
- Remove two hex-combination nuts - 12 -.
- Pull center console forcefully backward and remove it from vehicle.

NOTE: Center console may be removed from the diecast part on the instrument panel only with difficulty.

- Installing:
Installation is reverse of removal.

- Tightening torque 5 Nm
4 - Cover (2x)
5 - Parking brake cover
6 - Connecting piece
7 - Screws, (2x)
- Tightening torque 2 Nm
8 - Screws, (2x)
- Tightening torque 5 Nm
9 - Screws (4x)
- Tightening torque 5 Nm
10 - Screws, (2x)
- Tightening torque 5 Nm
11 - Hex combination nut (1x)
- Tightening torque 26 Nm
12 - Hex combination nut (2x)
- Tightening torque 26 Nm
