Crash Sensor For Rear Side Airbag (Side Curtain Airbag), Removing And Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1410
- Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 A
CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.
1 - Crash sensor for rear side airbag
- Removal:
NOTE: In the illustration, crash sensor for rear side airbag is depicted on the passenger side. The removal and installation on the drivers side is done in the same way.
- Disconnect the battery ground (GND) strap.
- Remove side upholstery.
- Disengage tab on yellow connector - 3 - and disconnect connector.
- Remove two bolts - 2 - on crash sensor.
- Installing:
Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
- Switch on ignition.
CAUTION: No one should be in vehicle when connecting battery.
- Connect the battery ground (GND) strap.
NOTE:
- Follow safety measures after connecting battery.
- If the Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 shows a malfunction after assembly, DTC memory must be checked with Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 A, cleared and then rechecked.
2 - Screws, (2x)
- Tightening torque 9 Nm
3 - Acceleration sensor connector
