Seat Belt Height Adjuster

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

• torque wrench (V.A.G 1332)





1 Seat Belt Height Adjuster

• Removing

- Press button - 6 - and bring slide - 5 - to bottom position.

- Remove the upper B-pillar trim - 4 -.

• Audi A6, refer to => [ Upper B-Pillar Trim ] Upper B-Pillar Trim.

- Lay aside upper B-pillar trim - 4 - with threaded belt webbing.

- Remove the bolt - 7 -.

- Remove belt relay - 3 -.

- Remove the bolt - 2 -.

- Pull seat belt height adjuster - 1 - up and out of B-pillar.

• Installing

• Replacement seat belt height adjusters are always in bottom locking position (assembly position).

• If removed seat belt height adjusters are reinstalled, these should be placed in bottom position (assembly position).

- Engage seat belt height adjuster - 1 - in B-pillar.

- Install screw - 2 - and tighten to the specification.

- Install the safety belt relay - 3 - and tighten screw - 7 - to the tightening specification.

• Button - 6 - should not be pressed with slide - 5 - when installing upper B-pillar trim - 4 -.

• Ensure seat belt height adjuster - 1 - is in top position.

- Thread slide - 5 - onto seat belt height adjuster profile - 1 -.

- Install the upper B-pillar trim - 4 -.

• Audi A6, refer to => [ Upper B-Pillar Trim ] Upper B-Pillar Trim.

Replacement seat belt height adjuster

- Firmly press slide - 5 - upward (approx. 60 Nm) after installing upper B-pillar trim - 4 -.

This removes seat belt height adjuster assembly anchorage.

Procedure for all seat belt height adjusters

- Check function.

When checking function, following conditions must be fulfilled:

• Seat belt height adjuster must latch with a click in all 5 possible positions (and in top position too).

• Button - 6 - must return to upper position by itself after being pressed.

• Belt relay - 3 - must swing into vertical position or carrier direction by itself after tightening screw.

If any functions did not work, seat belt height adjuster assembly must be checked; height adjuster may need to be replaced.

• If seat belt height adjuster is being removed for accident repairs, replace screw

3 Belt relay

4 Upper B-pillar trim

5 Slide

6 Button

7 Bolt

55 Nm

• If belt relay and seat belt height adjuster are being removed for accident repairs, replace screw
