Ribbed Belt
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)
Removing
- Bring the lock carrier into service position. Radiator Support
• Mark direction of rotation of the ribbed belt using chalk or felt-tip marker before removing. A reversed direction of rotation can cause damage to the belt under operating conditions.
- Loosen tensioning bolt - arrow - and remove ribbed belt.
Installing
- Place ribbed belt over belt pulley in the specified sequence.
1. Generator
2. Ribbed belt
3. Idler roller
4. Vibration damper
5. Tensioning roller
• When installing the ribbed belt, make sure it is seated correctly on the pulleys.
- Position the torque wrench on the belt tensioner hex bolt and tighten the ribbed belt to 70 Nm.
- At the same time, tighten the tensioning bolt - arrow - to 22 Nm.
Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Install lock carrier with attachments.
- Start the engine and check the belt running.
- Place torque support on rubber buffer for torque support and tighten bolts - arrows -.
- Install front bumper.
- Adjust headlamps.
