Intake Housing With Air Flow Flap, Removing And Installing

Removing
- Remove left and right plenum chamber covers.
- Remove dust and pollen filter.
- Remove dome brace with reinforcement for scuttle panel trim.
- Switch on ignition and set air conditioner to fresh-air mode (e.g. by way of "Defrost" setting on Climatronic Control Module -J255-).

NOTE: Air flow flap must be open to gain access to bolts -A-.







- Screw out bolts -A-.
- Switch off ignition.
- Then screw out remaining bolts -arrows-.







- Open fasteners for wiring harness -A- on right and left of heating and A/C unit.
- Detach intake housing with air flow flap.
- If required for further operations, open remaining fasteners for wiring harness at heating and A/C unit.







- Screw out bolts -A-.
- Detach cover -B-.
- Detach temperature sensor from intake housing.
- Remove Air Flow Flap Motor -V71-.

Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:







- Before fitting intake housing, carefully seal housing joints at -C- and -D- with silicone adhesive sealing compound (black) D 176 001 A3.
- Re-install components removed in reverse order.

NOTE:







- If moisture problems are encountered (fogging of windshield, odor nuisance) the sealing measures described above are to be supplemented by inserting a sponge-rubber cord (Phi 3 mm -A-) as far as area -B- in each case. Sealing cord should not be inserted into areas -B- where the slot is narrower
- Use is to be made of commercially available sponge-rubber cord (soft type with Phi 3 mm).

- Check DTC memory of Climatronic Control Module -J255- and erase any malfunctions displayed.
- Perform basic setting and output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) for air conditioner.
