Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Locking pin (T10060 A)
Removing
• Before raising the vehicle on a hoist (wheels off the ground), activate the vehicle lift mode.
- Loosen the noise insulation fasteners - 1 - and remove the noise insulation.
• Before removing the toothed belt, mark the running direction with chalk or felt a tip pen. A reversed running direction can cause damage to the belt under operating conditions.
• Note the previously marked direction of belt rotation and be sure that it is seated correctly on the pulley.
- To loosen the ribbed belt, rotate the tensioner clockwise in the - direction of the arrow - using a 19 mm box wrench until two holes are aligned; counter hold in position using the (T10060).
- Remove the ribbed belt.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• Check the alignment of the ribbed belt after replacing the following components. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt Alignment, Checking ] Testing and Inspection:
• Power steering pump
• Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor
• Accessory bracket (for the power steering pump and A/C compressor)
- Place the ribbed belt over the belt pulleys in the specified sequence.
1. Upper idler pulley
2. Crankshaft
3. Lower idler pulley
4. Power steering pump
5. A/C compressor
6. Ribbed belt tensioner
7. Generator
- Rotate the ribbed belt tensioner in the - direction of the arrow -.
- Remove the (T10060).
- Ensure the ribbed belt is seated and routed correctly.
- Start the engine and check the belt running.
