Digital Sound System Control Module, through MY 2005

CAUTION!
• This section refers to components of the communication systems available in Europe and not all apply to communication systems used in USA and Canada.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Fiber Optic Plier Repair Set (VAS 6223)

• Protective Cap For Cable Connector (VAS 6223/9)

If vehicle has Digital Radio (DAB) (R147) and TV Tuner (R78) with Digital TV Tuner (R171), the Digital TV Tuner (R171) must be removed first.

- If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine.

Use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) to do so.

CAUTION!
• Switch off all electrical components.

• Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

Removing

- Remove left luggage compartment side trim.

Vehicles with Digital Radio (DAB) (R147)/TV Tuner (R78)/Digital TV Tuner (R171)

- First remove Digital TV Tuner (R171).

All vehicles

- Remove bolts of Parking Aid Control Module (J446).

- Remove fuse carrier - 1 - by loosening nuts - arrows - (6 Nm).





- Disconnect harness connectors at Radio (R) and Digital Radio (DAB) (R147).

- Fit the Protective Cap For Cable Connector (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - on to the MOST-Bus connectors - 2 -.





- Unscrew nuts - arrows - (8 Nm) on mounting points of retaining plate - 3 -.





- Disconnect all harness connectors on Digital Sound System Control Module (J525) - 1 - and on TV Tuner (R78) - 2 -.

- Fit the Protective Cap For Cable Connector (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - on to the MOST-Bus connectors - 2 -.





- Pull out retaining plate - 3 - toward right.

- Remove bolts - 3 - (3 Nm) on rear side of retaining plate - 2 - at Digital Sound System Control Module (J525) - 1 -.





- Pull off Digital Sound System Control Module (J525) - 1 - from retaining plate - 2 -.

Installing

- Install in reverse order.
