Affected Vehicles

01 Engine torque support (DTCs P1874, P1875, P1876 in ECM)





Condition

Technician may find one of the listed Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the Engine Control Module (ECM) DTC memory during routine maintenance or repairs:

- DTC P1874 (Valve for Torque Support Bearing short to B+)

- DTC P1875 (Valve for Torque Support Bearing short to Ground (GND))

- DTC P1876 (Valve for Torque Support Bearing open circuit)

These DTCs will not cause the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) to come on.

Technical Background

Not applicable.

Production Solution

Electrical solenoid valve N382 is no longer used on Engine Torque Support Bearing.

Service





The following procedure will disconnect the electrical portion of the engine torque support -N382- (Figure 1) from the ECM.

- Engine torque support will still function as a normal hydraulic mount.

- ECM will no longer store DTCs listed above.

1. Remove sound insulation under engine compartment.





2. Remove electrical plug (Figure 2) from right front engine torque support - N382-.





3. Install plug with internal resistor part number 4E0 971 067 A onto the wiring harness.





4. Secure resister to wiring harness with cable tie (obtain locally).

5. Cut off excess cable tie.





6. Install 2 connector caps (part number 3C0 972 841) into electrical connector (part number 1J0 973 702) (Figure 5).





7. Install part number 1J0 973 702 on electrical connection of the engine torque support -N382- as shown in Figure 6.

8. Reinstall sound insulation under engine compartment.

9. Clear any stored DTCs.
