Fax Machine Contact Switch

Fax Machine Contact Switch (F86) is secured to fax machine housing at bottom. The fax machine contact switch signals the fax machine (R73) whether the sun shade is closed or open. If sun shade is closed, incoming fax messages will only be stored by the fax machine. If the sun shade is open, incoming fax messages are printed out.

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

Removing

- Remove the rear center console.

- Swivel center console with lower side upward.

Vehicles with Lengthwise Sun Shade

- Close sun shade.

- Disconnect harness connector at fax machine contact switch.

- Remove the nut - 3 - from fax machine contact switch - 1 -.





- Remove fax machine contact switch - 1 - from bracket.

Installing

- Note when installing that the fax machine contact switch is set correctly.

- Adjust fax machine contact switch - 1 - by way of both nuts - 2 - and - 3 - so that plunger - 4 - operates the fax machine contact switch when sun shade is opened.





- Perform further installation in reverse order.

Vehicles with Transverse Sunshade

- Close sun shade and disconnect harness connector at fax machine contact switch.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (1 Nm) out of housing in - direction of arrow B -.





Installing

- Note when installing that the fax machine contact switch is set correctly.

- Screw in both bolts - 1 - and - 3 - only loosely.





- Locate the correct position of the fax machine contact switch - 2 - by sliding the fax machine contact switch in - direction of arrows A and B - with the sun shade open.

The correct position has been found when fax machine contact switch is operated when sun shade is opened completely.

- Perform further installation in reverse order.
