Basic Setting

NOTE:
- Only an outline of "Basic setting" function is given. Implement "Basic setting" function as part of Guided Fault-Finding routine "Guided Fault-Finding" function of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051.
- On vehicles equipped with a Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265 as optional equipment, basic setting for Climatronic Control Module J255 must be followed by basic setting for Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265 "Guided Fault-Finding" function of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051.

- With ignition off, connect Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A with Diagnostic Cable - 3 meter VAS 5051/5A to 16- pin diagnostic socket in vehicle.
- Use address word "08" or "28" to select air conditioner/heater electronics or "rear AC operating element.

NOTE:
- Coding of Climatronic Control Module J255 checked and if necessary corrected Reading (currently valid code is displayed in measured value block) Climatronic Control Module J255, Coding (Function 07)
- DTC memory checked, Check DTC Memory (Function 02) displayed DTCs eliminated and DTC memory erased. Automatic Climate Control System
- Air conditioner switched on ("Auto" mode).

Indicated on display of Diagnostic Operation System VAS 5051A:

Control motors installed are then actuated in specified sequence.

End positions of control motors (resistance values in stop position) are stored in Climatronic Control Module J255 (or Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265) (resistance value of potentiometers in control motors) and used for further control action.

Once control motors have reached both end stops, they are moved again from one stop to other. During this process, adjustment time is measured and stored in Climatronic Control Module J255 (or Rear A/C Control Head (Climatronic) E265) for use in event of emergency operation.
