Gear oil in front final drive, checking and topping off
Special tools and equipment





^ VAG 1306 Drip tray
^ Warm up gear oil in front final drive to approximately 60°C by performing a short road test
^ Drive vehicle onto a lift and let gear oil drip out for approximately 2 minutes with engine switched off.

Note: The vehicle must be on a level surface.

^ Place VAG 1306 drip tray underneath transmission final drive.





^ Remove locking screw (arrow). If necessary, remove heat shield and input shaft from transmission and place to one side in order to gain access to bolt.
Fluid level must reach lower edge of filler hole.
^ Top off transmission fluid if necessary. Specification =.
^ When installing locking screw, tighten to specification using special tool 3247.

Note:
^ Do not screw using special tool 3247.
^ Replace sealing ring for locking screw.

Tightening torque
Locking screw M18 - 35 Nm
