Wiring Between Transmission and 88-Pin Connector For Transmission Control Module (Tcm), Testing
Wiring between transmission and 88-pin connector for Transmission Control Module (TCM), testing
Perform if:
^ if the output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) or
^ the electrical testing indicates malfunctions in the transmission, the Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217- or in the corresponding wiring.
Test conditions
^ Ignition switched off
^ VAG1598/20 adapter connected only to 88-pin connector on transmission wiring harness
^ Measurements performed with VAG1598/20 adapter outside vehicle
^ Remove noise insulation panel.
^ Remove bracket -1- for noise insulation panel.
Testing wiring to 16-pin connector on transmission
^ Turn 16-pin connector -4- on transmission to release bayonet catch.
^ Use multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to test for continuity between terminals on 16-pin connector and sockets on VAG1598/20 adapter. Resistance specifications.
Resistance specifications
Notes:
^ If readings obtained in these tests match the specifications, check the wiring harness in the transmission.
^ Only replace relevant solenoid valves if no malfunctions are found in the wiring harness in the transmission.
Testing wiring to multi-function TR switch (Spin connector)
^ Pull off spring catch securing 8-pin connector -2- to connector on wire for multi-function TR switch.
^ Use multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to test for open circuits between terminals on 8-pin connector and sockets on VAG1598/20 adapter. Resistance specifications.
Resistance specifications
Note: If the readings obtained in these wiring tests match the specifications, replace the multi-function Transmission Range (TR) switch -F125-; Refer to Fig. 33.
